My Story

“What you bring to the act of photography is all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read,

the music you have heard, the places you have been, the experiences you have had, the life you have

lived, and the people you have loved."

I was unaware of the profound impact photography would have on my life when I enrolled in my first

photography course.  instantly, I fell in love with the medium and was utterly fascinated. Photography not only opened my eyes, but it opened my mind. I began to observe the world from a new perspective, and soon, it was as if photography had become my voice. After three intensive years of dark room studies, I began working in small portrait studio in Temple, Texas. To say the least, it wasn’t long before I decided to pack my bags, move to Austin, and pursue a degree in photography.

In 2010, I received a BA in Photography from St. Edwards University. My freelance career quickly took off as I began shooting editorial work for local interior designers, fashion blogs, and national lifestyle and music publications. Yet, none of those things felt as gratifying or rewarding as the weddings I was photographing for friends and family. Hence, the birth of a new company, Band of Hearts Wedding Photography.
